I had such a great weekend! Friday night, the hubs and I went to the dine in movie theater to see A Walk Among the Tombstones, which was pretty mehhhhh. We didn’t like it too much, but at least we had some good wine and food at the theater!

Saturday was an epic lazy day. We caught up on the DVR, then headed up to Pasadena for Street Food Cinema. They were playing Beetlejuice, which is one of Rich’s favorite movies, and they allow dogs. Double win! It was Harry’s first real outing, so he was kind of insane. Rich was getting our dinner from one of the food trucks, and I was sitting with Harry. Another dog walked by and Harry tried to take off at full speed, with the leash wrapped around my finger. It ended up spraining my finger which is definitely not awesome. It hurt so bad! The upside of the night is we ran into Ali Fedotowsky from the Bachelor/E News, and Harry got to play with her adorable puppy Owen. Minus the finger issue, it was a fun night with my little family.

I hadn’t been to SoulCycle in a couple months, but one of my friends talked me into a class early this morning. It was a super sweaty class with Laura Crago. So glad we went! We had some healthy brunch at Coral Tree Cafe after class and chatted about her recent engagement and her wedding planning. Nothing I love more than wedding talk! The rest of the day was devoted to errands and laundry. We decorated a little bit for Halloween. My favorite holiday! Oooo and they have a whole pumpkin section at Trader Joe’s now. Hooray for Fall!

Oh, Hello

It’s been… almost a year? I think? since I last posted, but I’ve still been lurking and following along with you all! SO much has changed in the last year… I don’t even know where to start.

Rich and I got married on November 10, and it was just the most magical day.

We honeymooned in Playa del Carmen, Mexico, at a beautiful adults only resort. It was honestly the BEST week of my life thus far. We spent the week lounging on the beach, snorkling, drinking fruity drinks and swimming with dolphins.

In February, I decided enough was enough with the job I’d been at for almost 4 years, so I quit. It was terrifying. I’ve never quit a job before, let alone quit a job without a new one waiting for me! I had 2 months of blissful unemployment, where I was able to watch all 4 seasons of Downton Abbey, spin my heart out at SoulCycle, and just relax.

In April, I started a new job that was pretty much made for me. I’m the office manager of a public relations firm and I couldn’t be happier!

After the new job, came a move. Rich and I moved into a beautiful 2 bedroom apartment that I just adore. After living in the same space for over 4 years, it feels good to start fresh. We are having so much fun decorating!

And, as if I hadn’t gone through enough life changes, we got a puppy in July! Harry Winston joined our family on July 27, and he is just the best dog ever. He’s a boxer/pitbull mix and we love him so much!

Whew! It has been quite the year for me and my little family. I’m looking forward to easing my way back into the blog world. Thanks for sticking with me! I’ll probably be changing my blog name soon, since I’m not looking to run anymore marathons pretty much ever. :)

WHEN IM IN SPIN CLASS AND I THINK THE INSTRUCTOR WILL GIVE US A BREAK BUT SHE MOVES RIGHT ALONG

Wednesday Eats

Breakfast was a yogurt mess with coconut Chobani, raw oats and cantaloupe. I always have some strong black coffee with breakfast too, but it never makes it in the photo!

Snack was a Mama Chia snack pouch.

For lunch, I headed over to Mendicino Farms for a yummy tuna melt on buckwheat bread.

After work, I ran some errands, then headed home to make dinner for my sickly fiance. He requested chicken soup and grilled cheese, so that’s what he got!

I picked up a can of the Progresso light chicken pot pie soup for us to share and it was really good!! The grilled cheese was made with sourdough… the best kind of bread!

We lounged around for the evening catching up on the DVR. Hopefully the comfort food dinner made him feel a bit better!

Lately…

Hi there! Long time, no talk. Thanks for all the love on my headache post. I’ve been able to avoid a major migraine since that one, and I really think stress is the major culprit. I’ve been focusing on just staying calm and not getting too worked up about wedding stuff. I sound like one of those lame “Keep Calm and…” posters, don’t I? I got a massage this week which was HEAVEN, and I honestly feel like a new person!! I think I need to splurge on those a little more often.

So what else has been going on lately? Not too much. Rich and I had a low key weekend a couple weekends ago and got a lot of wedding stuff accomplished. We picked up some of our last decor items, and finalized our dessert menu with the bakery!

It has been a rough week you guys. I’ve been getting migraines for several years but I’ve always been able to knock them out with some Excedrin, hot compress and rest in a dark room. Starting on Sunday, I had a terrible migraine I just could not shake. Monday was even worse. I could hardly sleep, couldn’t keep much food down, and just focusing my eyes and attention on anything was a struggle. Tuesday I felt only minutely better.

Wednesday I woke up and the headache was there in full effect. It was centered behind my right eye and hurt so bad I couldn’t even open that eye. When I tried to get up, I felt so nauseous anytime I tried to lift my head. I knew I needed to get to a doctor which I had been dreading thanks to some less than stellar health insurance.

I was able to find an urgent care near my house and decided to just bite the bullet and went. They saw me as soon as I walked in. And I was finally diagnosed with migraines for the first time. They gave me some pain pills and urged me to go to a specialist for further diagnosis.

I spent Wednesday at home, drifting in and out of sleep thanks to the pain pills, and watching too much Scandal. I’m not posting any of my food because, to be quite honest, there wasn’t much of it, and when I did manage to eat it wasn’t healthy.

The one thing I do have to share is the new butternut squash croissant from Starbucks. You guys. This is SO good. It was the first food I’d eaten in days that didn’t make me feel sick. I immediately wanted another one.

Anyways. So that’s my migraine story thus far. Thanks to the pain pills, some other meds, and lots of rest, I’ve knocked this one out and was able to come back to work Thursday with just a minor dull ache. I’m back to wearing my eye glasses whenever I’m at work to help my eyes focus better. And other than that, I’m just trying to learn what the triggers are for my headaches.

Sorry for the wordy post. I just wanted to let you knows know where I’ve been! Hopefully I’ll be back with regular posts in the next day or so. :)

Sunday we slept in before heading down to Tinto for brunch! We had some bottomless mimosas to start, then I had an egg scramble with cheddar, asparagus and bacon. Yum!! It was such a beautiful day in Palm Springs… I was so sad to leave.

We headed back up to Orange County to drop Olivia off at her and Ben’s boat. I was so excited to finally see it! It’s such a nice boat and as a bonus, I got to see their cute little pup Tacoma.

Tess and I continued up to LA and hit no traffic, thank goodness! I spent the evening lounging on the couch and waiting for Rich to get home from Vegas. A great end to an awesome weekend!

Girls Weekend - Palm Springs Edition

So to keep myself occupied during Rich’s Bachelor weekend, I decided to take a few of my favorite girls down to the Saguaro resort in Palm Springs. This is mostly going to be a photo dump because we took about 9 million photos.

My day started at the DryBar! My happy place :)

Coffee for the road.

We got there around 2 and immediately poured some drinks! (Skinny pina coladas… my summer obsession. Coconut vodka, soda water and a splash of pineapple juice.)

They had left me a little note and bottle of wine in the room for being part of their hospitality program. So fun!

Fireball shots were had by all.

Then it was pool time!

We spent a few hours lounging and swimming, then got ready for dinner at El Jefe inside the hotel.

Charred pineapple marg. The bomb.

Esquites for our appetizer!

Heidi and I shared the steak tacos and nachos for our main meal.

We ended our night downtown at the Village Pub for some more drinks and dancing.

Such an awesome day in the desert with my girls!

All By Myself

Friday breakfast was brought in by our accountant! His wife is apparently an incredible cook. Check out this spread!

She made veggie frittata, sausage egg casserole, banana nut muffins and some fresh fruit.

My plate

It was all delicious but my favorite was the veggie frittata!

At lunch I had some errands to run and stopped into Ralph’s real quick where I stumbled upon this little slice of heaven.

ALL THE PUMPKIN BEER!!! Too bad it was like 100 degrees outside. Not nearly fall here in LA. I can’t wait to try the Red Hook one though!

Lunch was half a tuna melt from Mendicino Farms.

Friday night was a low key night in for me. I bid Rich adieu for his Bachelor party weekend with the boys so I had the house all to myself! I ordered some gourmet dinner (thank you, Domino’s), poured myself some wine, and finished season 1 of Sons of Anarchy.

Such a relaxing solo night. I read in bed for about 3 hours as well then called it an early night to get some beauty rest in before leaving on my epic weekend Saturday morning! :)
